Dir en Grey

Dir en grey (ディルアングレイ, Diru an gurei^?) (pronuncia certa nas respectivas línguas; Alemão, Francês, Inglês: "Diar an grey") é uma banda de rock japonês formada em 1997, após o fim da banda La:Sadie's. KISAKI, o baixista da antiga banda, se separou de Kyo, Shinya, Kaoru e Die, que chamaram o baixista Toshiya para formar a então nova banda, Dir en grey. O nome da banda é uma junção de Dir ("para você" em alemão), en ("em" em francês) e grey ("cinza" em inglês), então a tradução literal ficaria "Para você em cinza" mas Kaoru, líder da banda, nunca revelou a origem nem o significado do nome. A pronúncia correta seria algo como "dir an grei", mas os japoneses pronunciam "diru an gurei". Os fãs de línguas latinas usam abreviações como "Deg" ou "diru".

Embora eles não sejam mais uma banda de visual kei, continuam com lançamentos que surpreendem. Ao longo de sua história, já fizeram músicas agressivas como "OBSCURE" (Obscuro) e "Pink Killer" (Matador rosa), baladas de rock como "虫 -mushi-" (inseto) e "MACABRE ― 揚羽ノ羽ノ夢ハ蛹 ―" (MACABRE -ageha no hane no yume wa sanagi-), músicas pop como 予感 Yokan (Premonição), etc. A diversidade de músicas torna praticamente impossível categorizar a banda com precisão, na totalidade de sua obra.

Recentemente a banda centralizou sua atenção para expansão do seu público da Ásia para o resto do mundo com apresentações que lotaram as casas nos EUA, França e Alemanha, além de participar de Festivais famosos como o ROCK AM RING, Wacken Open Air, Rock im Park, South by Southwest Music Festival entre outros e foram convidadas para fazer turnê junto às bandas KORN e Deftones, em uma turnê organizada pelo próprio KORN, chamada THE FAMILY VALUES TOUR.
